Proposed Enforcement

The FMA is working with North East Lincolnshire Environmental Control and Enforcement to ensure that all fish processing premises are inspected to guarantee compliance. Fish merchants’ must take responsibility for their waste disposal and make sure that the areas adjacent their premises are not neglected.
Unfortunately a minority of fish merchants’ have little or no regard to meet the necessary standards. The FMA has urged that further action from the Enforcement Authorities is essential to make sure fish merchants’ and traders take the required action to ensure public health is guaranteed and that fish merchants and traders operate within the legislative regime.
