Seafood Apprenticship Pilot Scheme

The FMA and the Humber Seafood Institute are pleased that a new and exciting apprenticeship programme is to be piloted. A successful bid for funding has been approved and £50,000 allocated to run a 6 months pilot programme. Training commences on Tuesday 7 September 2010. Initial training will be at the Humber Seafood Institute. A formal launch is being arranged for Tuesday 14 September, details will be sent to the media from the Grimsby Institute’s press office.
The programme will include fish filleting and general knife skills, fish mongering, fish smoking and retail display. This initiative is part of the overall seafood centre of excellence.
